Cameron Mitchell’s newest concept comes to the Lane in Upper Arlington

Columbus, Ohio (March 31, 2014) –The long-anticipated newest concept from Cameron Mitchell – Hudson 29 Kitchen + Drink – has opened in at The Lane in the heart of Upper Arlington. Featuring distinctive American cuisine, served in a warm and inviting environment, Hudson 29 is a timeless combination of delicious foods, comfortable dining and the unmatched hospitality of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR).

“Upper Arlington has been my home for more than three decades, and I am delighted to share this concept with my friends, neighbors and the central Ohio community,” said Cameron Mitchell, CMR president and founder. “Although we’ve introduced a number of restaurants over our 20 years in business, it is particularly special to open Hudson 29 here in my neighborhood – especially one that reflects so many of my personal memories.”

An official ribbon cutting ceremony for Hudson 29 will be held in collaboration with the Upper Arlington Chamber of Commerce at 10 a.m. on April 7, 2014.

CMR veterans are leading the restaurant and its kitchen operations. Brian Scheren and Jonathan Basch are serving as general manager and executive chef, respectively. The nearly 5,800 square foot restaurant, which serves lunch and dinner daily, has total seating for 214 guests, including the bar area and a large terrace. A private dining room is available and seats 14.

Two of America’s most scenic and storied valleys, the Upper Hudson and Napa, shaped Mitchell’s culinary life and the creation of CMR.  Named for the Hudson Valley site of Mitchell’s revered alma mater, the original Culinary Institute of America, and Route 29 which runs through Napa Valley’s lush vineyards, Hudson 29 brings those experiences and memories together in one vision.

Hudson 29’s innovative take on American cuisine will be paired with a bar focused on wine, including a 200-bottle wine list, as well as house-made cocktails and craft beers. Cocktails, house-bottled at the restaurant, include a Daiquiri made with Mount Gay Silver, Grapefruit Fresca made with Belevedere Pink Grapefruit and Cointreau, and Bourbon Cola made with Bulleit bourbon. A Bourbon and Honey cocktail features Woodford Reserve, while the El Presidente is made with Ron Zacapa, Grand Marnier and Dolin Blanc.

Hudson 29 will also offer chardonnay on tap from the Hess Family Estates Winery – wine is preserved in a keg and served from a tap by the glass, according to CMR Director of Beverage Ryan Valentine.

On the menu are a variety of American favorites, starting with appetizers including House-baked, Four Cheese Stuffed Butter Rolls, stuffed with a mix of mozzarella, asiago, provolone and gouda and served with warm tomato sauce. Also on the appetizer menu are teriyaki-marinated, Chicken Lollipops, chicken drums served with sweet chili dipping sauce.

An assortment of flatbreads on house-made crusts are offered on the menu, including favorites like pepperoni as well as Campari tomato and vegetable. Hudson 29 also offers a collection of sushi roll choices, including a namesake Hudson Roll with apple, mango, poached shrimp, tuna and avocado; a Surf and Turf with filet mignon and tempura shrimp; and the Godzilla featuring spicy salmon Futomaki, cucumber, radish sprouts and wasabi Tobiko.

Fresh takes on classic knife-and-fork sandwiches and California fresh salads are featured on the Hudson 29 menu. The Reuben sandwich features house-made corned beef, the Crispy Buttermilk Chicken is topped with Havarti cheese, and the restaurant-named Hudson 29 Cheeseburger is made with beef chuck and beef brisket ground daily.

House, Caesar and arugula small salads are offered, as well as a variety of entrée salads, including a Cantonese Chicken and Noodle salad with rotisserie chicken atop a mix of romaine lettuce, Napa cabbage, bean sprouts, lo mein noodles, Edamame, crispy wonton, mango, and candied cashews, topped with peanut dressing. A Blackened Tuna salad features blackened Ahi tuna over Arcadian greens mixed with golden beets, Marcona almonds and goat cheese, tossed in a mustard vinaigrette.

A diverse selection of delicious entrees anchors the Hudson 29 menu. Selections range from beef to seafood and ribs to chicken,. Among the entrees are Wood-Grilled King Salmon filet served with couscous kale salad; Pan-Seared Scallops served with Arcadian greens, roasted golden beets topped with a golden balsamic vinaigrette; Slow-Roasted Prime Rib crusted in roasted garlic, salt, onions and pepper is served with horseradish cream and colcannon potatoes; and St. Louis BBQ Ribs are mustard-rubbed with barbecue sauce and served with hand-cut fries and coleslaw.

Completing the menu are three exceptional dessert choices, including house-made, pineapple upside-down cake Donuts tossed in sugar and served with caramel dipping sauce; Texas Sheet Cake with fudge icing served slightly warm with Graeter’s vanilla bean ice cream; and a Warm Berry Cobbler with a combination blueberry, strawberry and blackberry filling, topped with a lemon buttermilk cobbler and served with ice cream.

Daily menu features also are offered seven days a week. A children’s menu also is available.

A second Hudson 29 location is planned for The New Albany Company’s Market & Main development in 2015.
