The Magnificent Mile’s newest dining destination overlooking Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River creates an unapologetically luxe experience with an impressive, from-scratch menu of seafood, steaks, signature cocktails, and more
CHICAGO, IL (March 27, 2019) – Ocean Prime Chicago, one of the city’s most highly anticipated restaurant openings of the spring, is excited to unveil its stand out culinary and cocktail programming ahead of its official opening on April 3rd. Its iconic location overlooking the Chicago River and Michigan Avenue in the Shops at LondonHouse at the corner of North Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive, makes it an ideal destination to socialize, power lunch or dinner, celebrate and indulge in its unique design and carefully-crafted cuisine. Under the direction of Executive Chef Jason Shelley and General Manager Louis Morgan III, the award-winning modern American restaurant and lounge from renowned restaurateur Cameron Mitchell will provide both locals and visitors alike with a premium and unapologetically luxe dining experience that includes the highest quality ingredients, as well as simple and pure flavors. Ocean Prime Chicago will feature stunning views, a vibrant energy, an impressive menu of seafood and steaks and truly exceptional hospitality.

The chef-led menu features a variety of appetizers, sushi, soup and salad, seafood, prime steaks, chicken and chops, and dessert. Guests looking to kick off their meal with an appetizer or sushi roll can choose from a variety of options such as Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli with golden oak mushrooms, Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with kale, pickled fennel, and horseradish aioli; Prime Roll with tempura shrimp, cream cheese, scallions, and beef carpaccio; and Hamachi Crudo with pickled mango, sweet peppers, cilantro, and sesame ginger vinaigrette. Items from the Raw Bar include Oysters on the Half Shell, Chilled Crab Meat Cocktail, and a “Smoking” Shellfish Tower. For those dining on the lighter side, salad options include Shellfish “Cobb” Salad, Crisp Wedge of Iceberg, and the Ocean Prime House Salad.
With seafood selected and prepared daily for freshness, Ocean Prime Chicago is set to offer a variety of seafood-focused entrée options such as Blackened Snapper with corn spoon bread and jalapeno tartar; Chilean Sea Bass with whipped potatoes and champagne truffle sauce; Dutch Harbor King Crab Legs with asparagus and drawn butter; and King Salmon with haricot verts, tomatoes, cauliflower puree, and orange vinaigrette. Chicken and chops on the menu include Gerber Farms Chicken with spinach bread salad, roasted tomatoes, olives, and balsamic jus; and Pork Porterhouse with a fennel rubbed pork chop, brussel sprout leaves, and apricot jus. Prime USDA cut steaks featured at the restaurant include everything from an 8 oz. Filet to a 16 oz. Ribeye and are aged for maximum tenderness and flavor. Patrons looking for the best of both worlds may experience the Surf & Turf entrée served with an 8 oz. filet, butter poached lobster tail, gouda potato cake, chili seared spinach, cabernet truffle reduction, and béarnaise.
Highlights on the lunch menu include a Blackened Salmon Salad with strawberries, red grapes, walnuts, goat cheese, and poppyseed dressing; Prime NY Strip Salad with tomatoes, olives, marble potatoes, egg, and mustard vinaigrette; Prime Cheeseburger with Tillamook cheddar, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and relish; and Poke Bowl with ahi tuna, salmon, avocado, and sriracha vinaigrette.
Additionally, guests can choose from a variety of mouthwatering side dishes such as Jalapeno Au Gratin, Smoked Gouda Tater Tots, Black Truffle Mac & Cheese, Bacon Creamed Spinach, and Roasted Brussels Sprouts. Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy dessert options that include Ten Layer Carrot Cake with cream cheese icing and pineapple syrup, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie with peanut butter mousse and bittersweet chocolate ganache; and Crème Brulee with vanilla custard, caramelized sugar top, and fresh berries. Ocean Prime Chicago also offers a special gluten-free friendly menu.
To complement the dining experience, Ocean Prime Chicago offers a selection of signature cocktails that include the Berries and Bubbles with Belvedere citrus vodka, marinated berries, fresh lemon, Domaine Chandon Brut, and dry ice smoke; Prime Manhattan with Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Carpano Antice Vermouth, amaro nonino, and grapefruit peppercorn bitters; and Cucumber Gimlet with Bombay Sapphire gin, muddled fresh cucumber, and lime. Ocean Prime Chicago provides guests with an extensive, curated selection of wine that includes a range of rare wines available exclusively by the glass through the restaurant’s Coravin program.
From 4 p.m.- 6 p.m. on weekdays, Ocean Prime Chicago will provide guests with a Half-Priced Happy Hour that includes half off all appetizers, sushi, and oysters in their lounge. Additionally, select cocktails, wines by the glass, and all beers will be half off. On Sundays, the dining destination will offer a special two-course Surf & Turf menu with an 8 oz filet and your choice of “surf” and side, and Wine Night featuring half-priced bottles of wine up to $99.
