Columbus, Ohio (February 25, 2014) –Hudson 29 Kitchen + Drink at The Lane in the heart of Upper Arlington has its first leadership team in place. Cameron Mitchell Restaurants’ (CMR) veterans Brian Scheren and Jonathan Basch have been named to serve as general manager and executive chef, respectively.

Both men have enjoyed long careers with CMR. Scheren, of Westerville, most recently served for eight years as general manager of Cap City Diner in Grandview. He has held positions with other CMR concepts, including Cap City in Gahanna and Martini in the Short North.  A Columbus native, Scheren is a graduate of The Ohio State University.

“This is an exciting time to be a part of the rapid growth of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants,” said Scheren. “I am thrilled to be leading Hudson 29, with a team that will continue the Cameron Mitchell tradition of excellent service and warm hospitality, while introducing central Ohioans to our newest concept, offering flavorful American cuisine in a timeless environment that is both welcoming and casual.”

Basch joins Hudson 29 from CMR’s Molly Woo’s, where he served as executive chef. A graduate of Columbus State Community College’s Chef Apprenticeship program, he joined CMR in 2007 and rose to hold positions at Marcella’s and Mitchell’s Ocean Club, prior to joining Molly Woo’s. Basch lives in Dublin.

“Hudson 29 has such a distinct culinary vision – simple, but innovative American cuisine, prepared with expertly sourced ingredients,” said Basch. “Our menu, prepared in an exhibition kitchen, will delight our guests with a variety of choices – from flatbreads to salads, from steaks to knife-and-fork sandwiches. American comfort food is my culinary inspiration – and there will be an abundance of opportunity to bring that to life in this new restaurant.”

Hudson 29 Kitchen + Drink is a tribute to Cameron Mitchell’s culinary heritage. The restaurant is named for the Hudson Valley site of Mitchell’s revered alma mater, the original Culinary Institute of America, and route 29 which runs through Napa Valley’s lush vineyards. Its innovative take on American cuisine will be paired with a bar focused on wine, including a 200-bottle wine list, as well as house-made cocktails and craft beers.

“I’ve lived in Upper Arlington my entire life, and nothing makes me happier than to bring this concept to my friends, neighbors and the central Ohio community,” said Cameron Mitchell, CMR founder and president. “Hudson 29 fulfills a dream I’ve had to have a local gathering spot right here in my hometown, where our guests feel right at home.”

A second Hudson 29 location is planned for The New Albany Company’s Market & Main development in 2015.
