I love oysters. They’re an awesome bar snack, they go great with beer, wine and cocktails and they’re good for you. I personally enjoy them with good Champagne or an ice cold microbrew. It’s great to try eating and serving oysters in various preparations like Oysters Rockefeller or fried and topped with tangy remoulade on a po’ boy, but the popularity of enjoying raw oysters on the half shell is at an all-time high.

When you eat raw oysters, you want to make sure you don’t mask the taste of the oyster. Traditionally, oysters are served with horseradish, cocktail sauce, fresh lemon and mignonette. But you only need a little of your favorite accompaniment, because you still want to be able to taste the liquor (the liquid inside the oyster shell).

There’s an assortment of types of oysters with different characteristics and flavor profiles. My favorites are Blue Points from Long Island Sound, Connecticut. They are close to home and have great flavor. At Ocean Prime, we always serve the freshest oysters available, so our guests are able to choose from a varying selection from day to day.

Not only are oysters delicious, they’re also good for you. Oysters are low calorie and low fat, they’re lean sources of protein and heart- and brain-boosting omega-3 fatty acids and they have more zinc per serving than any other food.

Whether you’re a seasoned oyster enthusiast, or you’ve never tried the deliciously slippery treat, you’re guaranteed to get the freshest, tastiest oysters around at Ocean Prime. Pay us a visit to enjoy a sampling from our extra-fresh selection of oysters on the half shell paired with just the right drink.
