Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR) is thrilled to announce that its award-winning modern American restaurant and lounge, Ocean Prime, publicly opens its 13th location in Washington, DC today, October 6, 2016.
The restaurant is located in the historic Colorado Building at 1341 G Street NW and offers guests prime seafood, steaks, handcrafted cocktails and world-class wines in stunning settings with exceptional service.

Under the direction of Executive Chef Jason Shelley, Ocean Prime’s from-scratch kitchen delivers an impressive menu of fresh, expertly sourced seafood and prime cut steaks. Among the starter highlights include Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli ($13); White Truffle Caviar Deviled Eggs ($13); Surf N Turf ($17) with sea scallops and slow braised short ribs; and a diverse raw bar offering with customizable shellfish towers.
A sushi bar with a dedicated team of trained chefs delights with specialty items such as the Prime Roll ($18) with tempura shrimp, cream cheese, scallion and beef carpaccio; the Lobster Roll ($19) with poached lobster tail, kiwi, pickled serrano, masago and spicy mango puree; and the Hamachi Crudo ($22) with pickled mango, sweet peppers, cilantro and sesame ginger vinaigrette.
Main features include the Chilean Sea Bass ($46) served with whipped potatoes and champagne truffle sauce; Swordfish & Clams ($40) with pancetta, blistered tomatoes and chili flakes; and Florida Grouper with Brussels sprouts, quinoa, almonds, red peppers and lemon.
For those seeking heartier fare, top cuts of steak – including filet mignon, bone-in filet, ribeye and Kansas City strip – are wet-aged, seasoned and broiled to perfection at 1,200 degrees. To finish, Ocean Prime’s signature homemade desserts include decadent classics like the Baked Alaska ($12), Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie ($11), and the award-winning Ten Layer Carrot Cake ($11). The restaurant is also pleased to offer gluten-free menus for diners with food sensitivities.
Ocean Prime’s extensive wine and spirits program – spearheaded by DC beverage director Tim Manley – features 50 wines by the glass and classic cocktails with a modern spin. Specialty cocktails include the Berries & Bubbles ($15) with Belvedere Cytrus vodka, marinated berries, house made sour and Domaine Chandon Brut; the hand-squeezed Cucumber Gimlet ($13) with Bombay Sapphire gin and muddled fresh cucumber; and the Kentucky Rose ($13) with Bulleit bourbon, fresh mint, house made grenadine and cherry bark vanilla bitters.
Designed by architect and designer Mark Knauer – a longtime CMR partner – the restaurant’s contemporary and chic furnishings make it an ideal destination for social and business gatherings. Warm wood paneling, ample sunlight, bronze accents and hues of deep navy, purples and gold lend to the vibrant yet sophisticated atmosphere throughout the dining room and bar lounge.
At 8,556 square feet, Ocean Prime boasts four private dining rooms with seating ranging from eight to 42 seats (The Chevy Chase Room, The Georgetown Room and The Arlington Rooms, which can be combined into one large space); a luxe bar and lounge equipped with several televisions; and a spacious dining room for approximately 140 guests. Hand-selected artwork from local artists can also be found throughout the space.
Lunch is available Monday through Friday and dinner service is offered daily. In addition, Ocean Prime is pleased to offer District dwellers a weekday happy hour, including $1 oyster specials on Fridays; a Sunday Surf & Turf menu ($55); Wine Night with discounted bottles; and live music in the lounge.
