Patio season is coming to a close for some of our restaurants, but in some of our southern locations, it’s just getting comfortably cool enough for patio sipping, so there’s no bad time to share a refreshing cocktail recipe! We asked David Bjelovuk, bar chef at The Barn to share with us his favorite warm-weather cocktail.

“My favorite cocktail to enjoy in the late summer and early fall is definitely a classic whiskey smash: Muddle half of a lemon cut into 4 pieces with 10-12 mint leaves, 1 oz. simple syrup and Fee’s Grapefruit Bitters in a mixing tin. Add 2 oz. of your favorite bourbon or rye (at home I use Old Overholt, my favorite bang-for-the-buck rye). Shake well, and double strain over fresh ice in a highball glass. Garnish with a mint sprig, find a patio, and enjoy while the warm weather lasts!”
