Celebrate the year of the monkey at Molly Woo’s – our two-week Chinese New Year Celebration kicks off Monday, February 8. We invite you to enjoy our special Chinese New Year featured entrée and cocktail for good luck in the new year:
The celebration culminates on February 21 with our fourteenth annual Chinese Lion Dance. The dance will be performed by martial artists from Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi, who have spent years perfecting the detailed dance and accompanying percussion. According to ancient Chinese mythology, the lion dance originated centuries ago as a ritual to ward off an evil spirit. Today, the dance is still in practice in Chinese culture as a celebration meant to usher in a year of luck and fortuity.
According to General Manager Kelly Nordstrom, the lion dance is a much anticipated event at Molly Woo’s and has garnered quite a following. Nordstrom is always sure to set aside a reservation for a family who adopted a little girl from China and have made the Molly Woo’s lion dance a family tradition in her honor.
Nordstrom encourages guests who aren’t able to get a table during the dance to join us in our bar for a cocktail, where there is still a great view, “It’s an amazing experience that’s worth watching – and guests can dine with us afterward!”
